Westside Waldorf Application Process

1. Create an account in the Parent Portal, Ravenna: https://wswaldorf.bigsis.com/portal/
2. Click on “Enrollment / Admissions” tab on the top.
3. Then “Applications” on the left.
4. Click on the green “Add New” button, then “Submit a new Application”.

Application fee: Include the $150.00 non-refundable, non-transferable Application Fee with the application.

After submitting the application, submit supplemental forms to the Admissions Office via e-mail attachment at admissions@swaldorf.org.

Early Childhood Applicants

• Preschool - Kindergarten Confidential Recommendation (from current school/program), if applicable.
• Administrative Recommendation (from current school/program), if applicable.
• Immunization Records, as required by California State Law.

Grades Applicants (Grades 2-8)

• Student Section of Application (Grades 2-8) completed by applicant.Transcript Request Form (from current school/program), if applicable.
• Administrative Recommendation (from current school/program), if applicable.
• Elementary Teacher Recommendation (from current school).
• English Teacher Recommendation (from current school, if applicable).
• Math Teacher Recommendation (from current school, if applicable).
• Sample of student art work or book work.
• Immunization Records, as required by California State Law.

If applying for tuition assistance, the tuition assistance application must be submitted online with a $45 application fee at: https://online.factsmgt.com/signin/3FV07.

A family's Tuition Assistance award is shared concurrently with their acceptance decision letter.

Early Childhood Applicants

1. Following the above being received, schedule a 45-minute meeting between the early childhood teachers and administrators and the parents to get to know the applicant through their eyes.
2. Lastly, schedule a one-hour play visit with the class for the applicant to spend time with peers while teachers observe the child at play. The parents accompany their child for the visit.

Grades Applicants

1. Following the above being received, we will schedule a 3-day visit to the class, where the applicant can spend time among their potential future classmates and our teachers can assess the applicant in each subject.
2. Lastly, we will schedule a parent meeting with our School Coordinator, the class teacher, and the parents to recap the visit and give the family a chance to ask any questions they may have.
3. For students applying to first grade, we will schedule a 30-minute first grade readiness assessment, which evaluates a child’s physical, cognitive, and moral development. The assessment is to be prepared for the Waldorf first grade environment. It uses a playful, imaginative approach to observe a child’s balance, coordination, and ability to perform activities like hopping or catching a ball, as well as story recall and some drawing.

Applications for the current school year are accepted on a rolling basis, as space in the class allows.

Applications for the 2027/2028 school year are due as follows:

• December 11: Applications due
• January 8: Recommendation letters due
• January - February: Student visits and parent meetings
• February 19: Nursery acceptance decision letters sent, replies due by 2/26.
• March 12: Kindergarten - Grade 8 acceptance decision letters sent, replies due by 3/19.
